Shotacon ?

Hello boys and girls. I lately came across of a manga style concept named "Shotacon" when I was on a drawing blog. I didn't know the definition of this style (I knew Yaoi, Yuri, Sentai, Shojo, Shonen... but not this one) so I went on Wikipedia and saw the definition. I must admit I was socked at the first impression. But, the problem is that : I like a mangaka who draw "shotacon" (I didn't knew it was that) and I really like his work (really good color and lines technique). The thing that bothering me is he's in that category but he draw only teenage boys (15-17 years I guess) love and sex life (nothing between adults and young boys). So is it really Shotacon or not?
Another thing, I saw "Card Captor Sakura" was in that manga style too *_*. I was a big fan of this stuff (all stuff from CLAMP actually XD ) and I don't remember any controversy about it. And when I think of this, there's a lot of manga with love stories between boys and girls under 16 years who are famous around the world.

I want to know if you were aware of that information, what do you thing, is it dangerous to like this kind of art, is it something against the law or the moral, is it forbidden in your state or country?..

Remember, I don't like pedophilia or stuff like that, I want to be clear on it.

  1. Well, typically any 16 year old (or younger) in a sexual situation or state of nudity is considered shota. I don't really consider it shota if it's a love story between teenagers, but if it's a sexual situation, then yeah.

Also, it's not my thing per se, but if someone else enjoys it then I'm not really bothered by it (Unless the shota in question is REALLY young, like 13 or less). I don't think it counts as pedophilia unless it's real kids though. (which is disgusting)

  3. Hi! Kaze, I love CLAMP too, and I love Card Captor Sakura.

So, the love in series (for example CLAMP) is not shotacon... is Shojo, histories that love is very important factor. But very much fans draw sex histories abour different favourites characters.

Shotacon is a sexual type of manga/anime. Yaoi is sex of boys, Yuri is sex of girls... and shotacon is sex of kids. In shotacon can be appear adolescent X adolescent, adolescent x Adult, Kid x Adolescent, and Kid x Kid.

I hope you can undertand me because my english is terrible :X

So that, I like Shotacon of Adolescents, even adolescent with adult. But I don't Like sex of kids. I respect people like this, but i don't share their likes.

I hope I have helped you :) Kisses.

PSD: I read your blog and I see your deviant ^^ you have very virtuous hands :)

  4. Thank you guyz for your comments.

@branchlaw : Oh, ok I see. Thx for your explanations.

@anonymous : Yeah, someone told me that. In French television, they're introduced like close friends.

@neki-chan : Don't worry, I can understand you, you're english is good enough (I'm not too good in it either XD). Yeah, thank you very much, now I can understand the difference between all of that. I like adolescent shotacon too cause it's like in real life, when you're fall in love with your best mate or something like that at the school, your first time with him or her...
p.s : Thx a lot for the comment about my hands ;)

  5. At some countries, it might be illegal. However, as far as I've read about the US dealing with this kind of literature it is illegal in some extent, especially if the scene does not have any "serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value."

Even if you don't agree with the artist's choice of subject, I think it would be a waste just to ignore him because of that (if he's that really good). (Yes it's shotacon.)

  7. Actually the difference between shota and adolescent romance stuff is the same difference between pedophilia and hebephilia.

Shota is the name commonly given to PRE-PUBESCENT boys. Only in the Western world do people incorrectly define shota as anything below the age of consent. Rememeber, in Japan the age of consent (until recently I believe) was 12 years old! That's usually right around the time of puberty.

So no you are not into a shota author if he does older guys, strictly speaking.

If they guys look like young kids and haven't started puberty, they are shota. If not then you're simply reading Yaoi.

Many manga focus on adolescent love and sex so keep that in mind. (if you got to JPqueen and look up shota you'll see that it refers to kids, just like loli-con)

  9. There is a major difference between manga about puppy love in schools and shota: SEX! The normal one like what u mentioned: Cardcaptor Sakura isn't shota as it does not hv SEX :) Besides, shota means for characters who r under legal age and drawn OBVIOUSLY like CHILDREN, yikes! Yea, I mean children, not teenagers @_@ That's what bothers me.

Even though my sexual fantasies and obessions on male body started as early as 6 years old (Ok, i am a slut! lol!), shota is still to much for me.
